Week of November 4

Hi everyone! Wow I cannot believe it is already November!!! I am glad to say that this week is a normal week, so your child will have spelling words and they will be coming home with their reading folder, so make sure they are reading their books at home. 🙂

Spelling: your, which, their, said — Spelling Test Friday!

Phonics: We will continue to work with s-blends — sm-, sk-, scr-, str- . There will be an assessment where students will have to come up with words that start with these consonant blends.

Writing: We will begin a whole class story based off of the book Turkey Trouble. This week we will really try diving into revising and editing what we write! We will practice this week whole group and during writer’s workshop.

Math: We will continue to work on place value — this week we will focus on using a 4-chart. Students have to write the number in standard form (24), expand the number (20 + 4) , draw the number (with tens and ones blocks), and write the number in written form (twenty four). Please practice this with your kiddo at home! If they have questions, make a note in their planner so I can make sure to address it during guided math. Place value assessment Friday!

Social Studies: We will do a unit and past and present by learning about Thanksgiving, pilgrims, the Mayflower, etc.

These next 3 weeks leading up to Thanksgiving break will be fast and furious! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me!
