Dear Parents,
I sent a reading folder home with your child today or I will be sending a guided reading folder home with them this week. This folder contains a book (that we worked on in class), a Reading Folder packet, a reading log, and a list of your child’s spelling words throughout this year. When the Reading Folder is sent home please do the following:
- Have your child read the book that is in their Reading Folder. Your child should be familiar with the book because we have read over it in class in their guided reading groups. Then, ask your child 3-4 comprehension questions from the list provided in the Reading Folder packet.
- When you have worked on and read over the book, write the title of the book, the date, how long you read, and your signature on the reading log. I told them if they filled up their reading log then they would be able to choose between a treat or a ticket.
- PLEASE RETURN THE BOOK TO SCHOOL IN YOUR CHILD’S READING FOLDER THE NEXT DAY.
- When your child returns the folder to me in the morning, I will listen to him/her read the book to me.
